Our sale uses an electronic bar code system. Using bar codes helps speed up checkout lines at the sale, track each consignor's earnings, and allows us to send your checks out faster! Bar code labels are required on all tags.

There are a few ways that you can make your tags. Please look at the different methods below and choose the method that works best for you. Please remember, You MUST use CARDSTOCK!! Regular paper can tear or be totally torn off and your item will not be sold and will be placed in the lost and found.

1. Online Tags and Inventory Sheet - our customized excel spreadsheet allows you to input your information right on your computer! Type out your item information, click print on the bottom of the inventory sheet and your printable tags appear! This will also help you keep an inventory of your items! Print out your tags on cardstock paper.

2. Printable Tag Sheet (pdf format)- print out our tag template, get copies made on cardstock paper and hand write in your item information.

You must have Adobe reader to download and print tags!

TO MAKE A TAG:

Use card stock paper or you can use 1/2 of a 3X5 index card. Each tag must include the following information...

Left top corner-SIZE: When filling in size always use actual size even if the tag says small, medium or large. Use your best judgment to the best size. If an item is marked one size but wears like another please mark according to how it fits.

Right top corner-DONATE: If you are using our tag sheet the tag already indicates YES for donate. If you do not want to donate your item please cross it out!!. If you are making your own tags please write "Yes"or "NO" in the right corner of your tag to indicate if you are donating or not. If you are picking up your items after the sale or are not sure if you would like to donate some of them please mark as if you DO NOT want to donate. All items marked donate will not be sorted so please make sure you mark your items accordingly. NOTE: All items must be picked up by the designated pick up time or they will become property of The Kids Clothesline, regardless of what is indicated on the tag.

Center-DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM: Is your item a name brand? If so, list the name. Also, mention if the item is new. For larger items, it may be beneficial to point out the item’s original or retail price. This may convince the buyer of the great deal they will be getting. If your tag becomes separated from your item we will use your description to match it back to the item. Please don’t be too vague.

BAR CODING IS EASY!!

  • The easiest way to bar code is by using our online tag/inventory sheet. Just fill out your excel spreadsheet, print a copy when you are finished and count up the number of each price barcode that you need, go online and order your barcodes!
  • If you are using another method of tagging….As you fill in your tag, determine what price you want to sell your item for and whether you want it to go for half-price on Sunday, and write that information on the bottom of your tag. As you write out your tags keep a tally of the barcodes you will need (for example: 3 - $1.00/No Discount, 5 - $4.00, 8 - $2.00, etc.)

ALL PRICES MUST BE IN $.50 INCREMENTS.

  • Whatever method you have used, when you have finished tagging you will have a list to take to the computer to order your barcodes online.Your barcodes will print the price and consignor number and will indicate if you want an item to go 1/2 price on sunday.
  • You may place multiple bar code orders. I suggest that you order a few extra bar code labels for last minute pricing. Please be considerate when ordering labels, do not order tons of labels in random amounts. Thank you!
  • Your first bar code order of 100 or less will be mailed to you free of charge, each additional order or orders over 100 will cost $1.00, orders over 350 will be charged $2.00 due to shipping costs. All shipping fees will be deducted from your consignment sales.
  • Barcodes should be affixed to the bottom of your tag. Once you have applied bar code labels to all your tags, sort your items by gender and then size. As you sort double check to make sure you have applied a bar code to each tag & make sure you didn’t miss any stains or tears! You will be putting your items on the sales floor, sorting them by size and gender ahead of time will save you tons of time

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT BAR CODES: If you change your mind on the price or half-price option that you put on an item, you MUST get a new barcode. DO NOT mark out the barcode's price or discount and change it manually. The item will scan at the checkout according to what is encoded in the barcode, not what is hand written on the barcode sticker.
